The next few weeks at Resurrection will reveal the rich quilted fabric of the life of the parish, and the life of the Church. This weekend’s visit by Bishop Martin Mtumbuka of the Diocese of Karonga in Malawi - a country in south-central Africa bordered by Mozambique, Zambia and Tanzania - reminds us of the global nature of our Catholic faith. Our donations to Bishop Mtumbuka’s diocese are donations to our own brothers and sisters who all share the same Body of Christ a half a world away. Our generosity is needed and appreciated.
Next weekend, the best opportunity to experience the many dimensions of our parish life will be evident in a few ways. First, we will have our Resurrection Parish Ministry Fair in the Family Life Center after all Saturday afternoon and Sunday Masses at St. Thomas More. The Ministry Fair flyer in this bulletin has the list of participating ministries. This is your chance to learn about these ministries and meet your fellow parishioners who are involved in a multitude of ways to build God’s kingdom. The vibrancy of our parish depends on the gifts of our parish family - we are in this together. So come to the Ministry Fair and consider our ministries - liturgical, outreach, faith and community life, faith formation, and religious education. Learn so you can help - or learn about ways that we can be present to you. Hope to see you there! (Also on Sunday we’ll have coffee and donuts in the cafeteria! Can it get any better?)
Additionally next weekend, one of our most essential and largest ministries - Religious Education - will be highlighted at the 9:30 a.m. Mass as we celebrate Catechetical Sunday. Fr. Mike will have a special rite to commission all catechists and ministers involved with the formation of our young people. May God continue to bless all who inspire and guide our young people in their journeys of faith.
And finally, next weekend, Fr. Mike will take time to provide a financial “state of the parish” to all parishioners - with his gratitude for our generosity. Our financial support of the parish, whether through offertory, gift cards, fundraisers, or other methods is a important and meaningful way to participate in the life of the parish. May the spiritual and corporal works of Resurrection parish continue to support and build all parts of the Body of Christ. That’s all for now - and that’s a lot! Hope to see you at the Ministry Fair. Amen!
