For the past several years, Resurrection Parish has sponsored a Parish Mission in the Fall, and this year we are pleased to present our Parish Mission to you from Sunday, September 29th through Tuesday, October 1st. The theme of this year’s mission is Jesus Christ Satisfies the Hungry Heart offered by Fr. James Dowds and Fr. Kevin O’Neil, both Redemptorist priests. Fr Dowds is no stranger to Resurrection Parish since he filled in here as an organist for several months last year. This theme continues the focus from the Eucharistic Revival, and it allows us to reflect on the Real Presence of Jesus that comes to us for healing, sustenance, and hope. The mission begins each evening at 7:00 p.m. at St. Thomas More Church, and the talks will last roughly one hour. Please consider coming to deepen your relationship with Christ, especially in the Most Blessed Sacrament.
O.C.I.A/O.C.I.C Inquiry: This Wednesday, September 25th at 7:00 p.m. in the Reardon Room at St. John Capistran will be the first meeting for those interested in joining the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults or Order of Christian Initiation of Children. If you or someone you know are thinking of becoming Catholic or completing a sacrament, then please consider attending this meeting. Thank you to our team of catechists lead by Pete Skeel for helping others to grow in their faith.
Staffing Adjustment: Most of you probably know that Ms. Susie Levitt, our parish office manager, will be retiring at the end of this month. I am grateful to Susie for her nine years of service to the parish, and for all that she has done to help the parish office run smoothly. Although she will depart from the parish, Susie will continue to oversee the Safe Environment program. Susie’s position will not be replaced in an effort to conserve resources and consolidate tasks. In light of this, Ms. Susan Young will be moving up to the St. Thomas More offices to help with some of the tasks that were in Susie’s charge. As a result, St. John Capistran will no longer have regular office hours beginning in the middle of October. There will be a mailbox at St. John Capistran to drop any Mass intention requests, etc., and arrangements can be made to meet anyone at St. John Capistran who is unable to come to the offices at St. Thomas More. I want to emphasize that this is not an effort to eliminate or slight St. John Capistran. There is no intention to change the Mass schedule or any ministry at this site. We have invested a significant amount of time fixing and renovating the physical plant, and we will continue to use both Churches. The offices at St. John receive very little traffic, and this move to consolidate offices will enable us to be better stewards of our resources. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we transition in this time.
